Let the work commence!

Our first sighting of the building work that lies before us. Mr Knight explained the progress of the building so far. There's a lot to do but it we are raring to go!

Mr Pool surveying the site......wonder what he's thinking? Teaching Maths would be a lot easier?

Videoing our arrival is Ruwantha and by his side the head of SERVE Mr de Mel; they both gave us a warm welcome.

See the view we will glimpse if we're lucky.....the ocean in the distance. The sea breeze will be very welcome.

All of this rubble will need to be moved by our willing(!) helpers. Tomorrow one of our first tasks is to form a chain gang.

We were welcomed at the centre and we toasted Nick's birthday with a refreshing drink of king coconut. Some people weren't sure but it went down very well. Sri Lankan champagne?

Mr Barnes will need all his energy tomorrow. I think an early night is in order......some chance!
Looking forward to day 1 on the project tomorrow. With 29 pairs of hands progress should be soon visible......no slackers please!

  2. Looks like rather a daunting task, but many hands will make light work, or so someone says! Are Mrs Speed and Mrs Clarke a little camera shy? It's time we saw some pics of them in their Sri Lankan attire...

Good luck with the hard labour.

  5. Hi All

Great to see you are finally going to be doing some hard labour rather than all this playing on the beach. Mr Pool should be able to knock up another floor on that building in no time at all! Happy Birthday Nick. Has Mr Barnes acquired a pair of those jazzy trousers yet? Mrs Clarke and Mrs Speed need to start appearing in a few pictures.

Look forward to some more updates, have fun!

  7. Wow that looks as though you have quite a task ahead of you! The idea of a chain gang makes me think of that song. Can't remember who by :( I hope you all have a head for heights. It doesn't look like my kind of building. But the coconut champagne looks wonderful. I can't wait to see what you do with project when you finish. I hope you've got enough gloves, masks and paint brushes. Enjoy the work and all the other excitements. Did you succumb to a colourful shirt or trousers? Love you loads Joseph plus one and no returns. Mummy xxxxxxxx
