The second visit

Today we welcomed three bus loads of children from the centre at Modera for group work and games.

Mr Pool describes the day's activities.

The afternoon started with an attempt to play some games, there were varying degrees of success as the language and shyness was an initial problem (ask Alannah when she gets home)

We were treated to some carrom training, another game that they were far more skilful at than we were.

After a short while the smiles began to break through and all seemed to be having a good time.

Moving outside we ventured into other activities, some more competitive than others!

A fine drive from one of the Sri Lankans launched the ball into the lake, with no fear of the crocodiles the locals went in and retrieved the ball so the match could continue.

Freddie posed for a spot the ball competition, before being caught out.

Both teams came together for the post match photo, the score is best forgotten!

Seeking some firm of retribution the sport was changed to football. Here we faired much better and ran out a comfortable 2 - 0 winners. Yeah!

A great afternoon was had by all.

  1. Huzzah. Another surprise post. Fabulous. It's lovely to see the linking of cultures with all barriers broken down by a ball :) This trip just gets better and better. What will we do when you all get home with no more to drool over? J - Lumpoanr. Love to everyone. Xxxxxx

  3. Ok, final update. Some kids popped around last night demanding compensation for the money they lost betting on my final race. Long story short - I managed to placate them with your PS3 and a load of games. Since you haven't played on it for a few weeks I thought you may have grown out of it. Your Mum wasn't impressed though and made me sleep in your room. The wooden effigy of you that I thought had disappeared had made it into your bed. Very creepy to find it wearing your Batman pajamas. He was soon evicted and I settled in for the night. Unfortunately, a strange rustling kept me awake for ages, however, once I had binned all the sweet wrappers under your bed sleep was a lot easier to find. I can't imagine Mrs Crowe condones that sort of behaviour at the boarding house!
We are all missing you lots.
    See you soon,
    Dad x
